The objective of the study was to investigate the potential influence of endogenous sex hormones to depressive symptomatology, in Greek postmenopausal women. The study assessed 207 postmenopausal women, of which 48 were users of HT and 159 were not. Endogenous sex hormones concentrations were determined. Presence and severity of psychological and depressive symptoms were evaluated by Zung Depression scale, general psychopathology SCL-90-R scale, Greene's Climacteric Scale, Utian Quality of Life Scale (UQOL).Linear regression analysis results showed that FSH levels correlated negatively with scoring in obsessive/compulsive symptoms while free estrogen index and intensity of vasomotor symptoms affected positively the score in depression. Free androgen index affected positively the score in anxiety, hostility and psychoticism. E2/T ratio showed a positive effect on occupational and emotional quality of life, the latter correlated negatively with scoring in Greene scale. Menopausal symptom ...
