The removal of Cr-, I-, U-, Re- and B-anionic species from aqueous solutions by twoepichlorhydrin - polyethylenimine resins was investigated using a batch technique. Theresins were previously characterized by SEM/EDS, XRD, and BET. Their moisture, grain sizeand chemical stability in solutions of different pH were also determined.The chromium removal from aqueous solutions was studied both in absence and inthe presence of background electrolytes (NaNO3 and Na2SO4, ionic strength 0.1M). Theexperiments in absence of background electrolytes were performed using chromatessolutions (initial concentration: 300-5000 mg/L) of initial pH (pHinit) 2 to 7, whereas those inthe presence at pHinit 3 and 6. The amount of Cr removed from the solutions was determinedby spectrophotometry using 1,5-diphenylcarbazide as complex-forming agent.
