Planning adult education programs in Greece: the case of General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning

Abstract

The quest on theoretical and empirical research on the scientific field of adult education has led to the development of a particular educational methodology, the application of which is a necessary prerequisite for the implementation of effective programs addressed to adults and results to concrete specifications for their design. As adult education programs are usually organized in the context of various institutions, the ability to follow these specifications during design and implementation is defined by the relevant internal and external design environment. The specific characteristics of each institution form the internal design environment, while the external environment consists of the wider institutional framework which affects, directly or indirectly, its function.
