The mean score on the scale of emotional intelligence units was 123 (± 12,3 points). The mean scale of interpersonal relationships was 44.5 points (± 9,3 points). There was a positive correlation between the emotional intelligence score with the scale of interpersonal relations. A positive correlation between emotional intelligence with certain perceptions of nurses in their relationship with family members of patients was found. Regarding the size of the DAS scale, a higher positive value in the «Achievement» dimension was found (2,6 ± 4,1) and the mean value in the «Perfectionism» dimension was also positive (1,9 ± 3,8). The only dimension in which the average value was negative was the «Entitlement» (-0,4 ± 3,4). The mean score on the anxiety scale was 10.4 points (± 9,1 points). On the SCL-90 scale was found that as the score of nurses in the emotional intelligence scale and interpersonal relationships scale was increasing (and the more positive perception nurses had in the dimensions of the DAS scale), the symptoms of the symptomatology scale SCL-90 were decreasing. Conclusions. The results of this study partially support the hypothesis that emotional and psychological manifestations of ICU nursing staff, resulting from the care of critically ill patients, from cooperation with colleagues and other staff members and from their contact with patients' relatives are associated with their levels of emotional intelligence. The ability to deal effectively with emotions in the workplace helps nurses to cope with the psychological manifestations. In Intensive Care Units is important to develop programs to improve the levels of emotional intelligence of nursing staff so as to make better management of psychological events and interpersonal relationships, improve conflict resolution and increase the effectiveness of teamwork.
