Investigation of blood donors attitudes behaviour and level of knowledge towards blood donation

Abstract

Blood donation constitutes a gift of life for someone who stands in urgent need of blood transfusion. The main aim of the dissertation is the investigation of the structure of attitudes and behavior of volunteer blood donors in relation to voluntary blood donation, as well as the investigation of the factors that affect those structures. In this study participated 1.020 volunteer blood donors men and women, aged 18-64 years old, who were coming into blood centers of the municipality of Thessaloniki in order to give blood. A questionnaire was constructed in order to study to be conducted. The questionnaire consists of the following parts/units. Part A: General Information, Part B: Attitudes-Behaviour, Part C: Opinions-Recommendations, Part D: Reasons of non-donation-Fear and Part E: Demographic characteristics.
