La expresion de probabilidad, incertidumbre y conjetura en espanol y griego moderno

Abstract

This doctoral dissertation, entitled The expression of probability, uncertainly and conjecture in Spanish and in Modern Greek, deals with the future tenses of the Indicative in Spanish and in Modern Greek, starting with the reasons that aroused our research interest in this field. In a constantly globalized world, the need for foreign language learning is imperative. In particular, Spanish continuously gains ground in the preferences of Greek students. Greek and Spanish share similarities in terms of phonetics, phonology, syntax and semantics, nevertheless the field of linguistic research between these languages remains relatively virgin. For this study we have chosen to study the field of the verbal paradigm, one of the fields where a high number of errors by Greek learners of Spanish are detected and especially the field of the "future tenses”. Considering that tenses do not only express temporal events but also have the capacity to express extratemporal content and meanings that do not always correspond to the value that is traditionally assigned to them, we try to study the mechanisms through the future tenses express probability, uncertainty and conjecture. The present study aims to adequately characterize and explain linguistic affinities and divergences, through a contrastive analysis perspective, of the future and conditional tenses of the Spanish and Greek indicative. For this, we base our analysis on the theory of temporality as proposed for Spanish by Veiga (2008) and elaborated in several subsequent works (among others Veiga 2012, 2013, 2015a, 2015b, 2020; Leontaridi 2019), adapting it at the same time, to the structure of the Greek verbal paradigm. The analysis of the linguistic facts has revealed that the coincidences in the categories of temporality and temporal dislocation that characterize the two languages makes it possible to explain both ‘straight’ and ‘dislocated’ uses of a verbal form, and at the same time show that as far as the latter are concerned, we are dealing with systematic rather than ‘idiomatic’ uses in both languages.

Η παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή έχει ως τίτλο Η έκφραση της πιθανότητας, της αβεβαιότητας και εικασίας στην Ισπανική και Ελληνική γλώσσα. Σε αυτή την εργασία έγινε μια προσπάθεια προσέγγισης της λειτουργίας των χρόνων του μέλλοντα της οριστικής έγκλισης στα Ισπανικά και τα Νέα Ελληνικά. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζονται οι λόγοι που ώθησαν το ερευνητικό μας ενδιαφέρον στον συγκεκριμένο τομέα. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, γίνεται αναφορά στο γεγονός ότι σε έναν κόσμο κάθε φορά όλο και πιο παγκοσμιοποιημένο, όπου είναι πλέον επιτακτική η ανάγκη εκμάθησης ξένων γλωσσών, η ισπανική κερδίζει συνεχώς έδαφος στις προτιμήσεις των Ελλήνων σπουδαστών. Η Ελληνική και η Ισπανική παρουσιάζουν ομοιότητες σε επίπεδο φωνητικής, φωνολογίας, σύνταξης και σημασιολογίας, ωστόσο το πεδίο της γλωσσολογικής έρευνας ανάμεσα σε αυτές τις δύο γλώσσες είναι ακόμη παρθένο. Σε αυτή τη μελέτη επιλέχθηκε το πεδίο του ρηματικού παραδείγματος, το οποίο αποτελεί ένα από τα κατεξοχήν πεδία στα οποία εντοπίζονται λάθη κατά την εκμάθηση της Ισπανικής από Έλληνες σπουδαστές, και ειδικότερα το πεδίο των αποκαλούμενων «μελλοντικών χρόνων». Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη το γεγονός ότι οι χρόνοι δεν παρουσιάζουν μόνο χρονικά γεγονότα αλλά έχουν την ικανότητα να εκφράσουν μη χρονικά περιεχόμενα και να μεταφέρουν μηνύματα πέρα από συγκεκριμένα χρονικά πλαίσια, σε αυτή την εργασία αναζητήθηκε στο πεδίο των μελλοντικών χρόνων η μελέτη των μηχανισμών μέσω των οποίων οι παραπάνω χρόνοι εκφράζουν πιθανότητα, αμφιβολία και εικασία. Ο στόχος αυτής της διατριβής είναι να εξηγήσει επαρκώς τις ομοιότητες και τις διαφορές που παρουσιάζουν οι χρόνοι του μέλλοντα και της υποθετικής στην οριστική έγκλιση στα Ισπανικά και Ελληνικά αντίστοιχα. Για το σκοπό αυτό, στηριχθήκαμε στη θεωρία της χρονικότητας, όπως προτάθηκε για τα Ισπανικά από τον Veiga (2008) και εν συνεχεία τροποποιήθηκε και εξελίχθηκε σε επόμενα έργα (μεταξύ άλλων Veiga 2012, 2013, 2015; Leontaridi 2019), προσαρμόζοντάς την ταυτόχρονα στη δομή του ελληνικού ρηματικού παραδείγματος. Η γλωσσολογική ανάλυση παρουσίασε ότι οι συμπτώσεις στις κατηγορίες της χρονικότητας και της χρονικής μετατόπισης που χαρακτηρίζουν τις δύο γλώσσες καθιστούν δυνατή την παραδοχή συστηματικών παραλληλισμών, τόσο σε σχέση με τις «ορθές» όσο και τις «μετατοπισμένες» χρήσεις των εν λόγω ρηματικών τύπων.

Esta tesis doctoral, titulada La expresión de probabilidad, incertidumbre y conjetura en español y griego moderno, se intenta acercar al funcionamiento de los tiempos del futuro del indicativo en español y en griego moderno. En primer lugar, se presentan las razones que incitaron nuestro interés por realizar una investigación en este campo. Hacemos referencia a un mundo, cada vez más globalizado, donde la necesidad de aprender lenguas extranjeras es una exigencia imperativa. En particular, el español gana cada vez más terreno en las preferencias de los estudiantes griegos. Se observa que el griego y el español presentan afinidades en términos de fonética, fonología, sintaxis y semántica; sin embargo, el campo de la investigación lingüística entre estos dos idiomas es todavía relativamente virgen. Hemos decidido examinar el campo del paradigma verbal, que es uno de los principales campos del aprendizaje del español en que los estudiantes griegos cometen errores, y especialmente en el campo de los llamados "tiempos del futuro". Considerando que los tiempos no solo presentan eventos temporales, sino que tienen la capacidad de expresar contenidos extratemporales y transmitir mensajes más allá de estos marcos temporales fijos, en este trabajo se intenta analizar los mecanismos a través de los cuales los tiempos del futuro expresan probabilidad, duda y conjetura. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo la adecuada caracterización y explicación de las afinidades y divergencias que presentan los tradicionalmente llamados tiempos del futuro y del condicional del indicativo en la plasmación de las categorías de modo y tiempo en español y griego, respectivamente. Para ello, nos basamos en la teoría de la Temporalidad, propuesta para el español por Veiga (2008) y elaborada en varios trabajos posteriores (entre otros Veiga 2012, 2013, 2015a, 2015b, 2020; Leontaridi 2019), adaptándola a la vez, a la estructuración del paradigma verbal griego. El análisis de los hechos lingüísticos ha revelado que las coincidencias en las categorías de temporalidad y dislocación temporal que caracterizan los dos idiomas hacen posible hablar de paralelismos sistemáticos, tanto en relación con los usos “rectos” como con los usos “dislocados” de las dos formas verbales en cuestión.
