Abstract

Background:The aim of this scientific based study is to observe, compare and evaluate the therapeutic effect of two methods of kinesiotherapy after reconstruction of the ACL using a bone patellar tendon bone graft in athletes.Method:One hundred and fifty patients with rupture of ACL combined with meniscus tear were followed up over a period of five years (1997-2002). They underwent a reconstruction with use of free bone patellar tendon bone graft based on the Landa-Kenneth-James-Bruckner method. The patients were divided into group A and B with 75 patients each. While group A stayed over a period of two weeks in the hospital after the surgery, the patients of group B got discharged after four or five days with home treatment plans of kinesiotherapy. After the time of immobilisation the duration of physiotherapy which was prescribed lasted for group A four weeks while for group B only two weeks.
