This classification incorporates the traditional radiological phases of bone turnover or remodelling: that is, the osteolytic phase, the mixed phase, and the osteoblastic phase. Normal or diminished bone scan activity in the osteoblastic phase indicates diminished bone turnover which we distinguish as the osteosclerotic phase. Modelling states or bone deformities of expansion or contraction are recorded as a function of bone drift at the periosteal and endosteal envelopes. A case of Pagetic bone contraction is documented. Out of a series of 112 symptomatic patients, 527 Pagetic bones were classified. Eighty-eight patients were treated medically; twenty showed progression to a more bone forming phase without a change of the modelling state, and twelve patients showed regression to an increasing bone resorptive phase. No treated patient returned to normal bone architecture. Unusual radiological manifestations of Paget's disease are incorporated into the dynamic classification. Of the drugs for the treatment of the disease available diphosphonates (EHDP) seem to be the more appropriate for the convenience of use, the absence of refractory effects and the alimination of complications, although calcitonin and mithramycin, within their limitations, have their indications in dealing with this peculiar but crippling disease.</dc:description><dc:description xmlns:lang="el">Η νόσος του Paget των οστών μπορεί να χαρακτηρισθεί σαν μια διαταραχή της αναδόμησης (bone remodeling) και μετασχηματισμού (bone modeling) των οστών προφανώς από διαταραχές των οστεοκλαστών. Όμως κανείς ασθενής της σειράς αυτής με ακτινολογική αλλοίωση των οστών από τη νόσο, δεν εμφάνισε με τη θεραπεία, πλήρη αποκατάσταση της φυσιολογικής αναδομικής αρχιτεκτονικής των οστών.</dc:description><dc:title xmlns:lang="el">Δυναμική ταξινόμηση των μορφών της νόσου του Paget των οστών και η θεραπευτική αντιμετώπισή τους</dc:title><dc:title xmlns:lang="en">New dynamic classification of Paget's disease of bone and its treatment according to this</dc:title><dc:creator xmlns:lang="en">Sagiakos, Ioannis</dc:creator><dc:creator xmlns:lang="el">Σαγιάκος, Ιωάννης</dc:creator><dc:date>1990</dc:date><dc:language>gre</dc:language><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Ακτινολογικές φάσεις</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Μονάδα οστικής αναδόμησης</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Νόσος του Paget</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Οστεοβλάστες</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Οστεοκλάστες</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Οστικά περιβλήματα</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Οστική αναδόμηση</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Οστικός μετασχηματισμός</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Bone envelopes</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Bone modelling</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Bone remodeling</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Bone remodelling unit</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Osteoblast</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Osteoclast</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Paget's disease</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Radiological phases</dc:subject><dc:publisher xmlns:lang="en">University of Patras</dc:publisher><dc:publisher xmlns:lang="el">Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών</dc:publisher><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Ιατρική και Επιστήμες Υγείας</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="el">Βασική Ιατρική</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Medical and Health Sciences</dc:subject><dc:subject xmlns:lang="en">Basic Medicine</dc:subject><dc:identifier>10.12681/eadd/1314</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>http://hdl.handle.net/10442/hedi/1314</dc:identifier><dc:type>PhD Thesis</dc:type></oai_dc:dc></metadata></record></GetRecord></OAI-PMH>
